Two for Thursday, Carter Center & The Contemporary
As part of our ongoing collaboration with Lumière Gallery, Tim Troll, director of the Nature Conservancy, will be speaking on Thursday night at the Carter Center about "the status of conservation in Alaska 30 years after President Carter signed the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act."
Mr. Troll's lecture is a continuation of the current photography exhibit, "Southwest Alaska: A World of National Parks and Wildlife Refuges" by Robert Glenn Ketchum. The lecture is the second event in a three-part lecture series with leading authorities on Alaska and the environment. The third lecture, in March, will be a presentation by bear expert Chris Morgan.
Across town on Thursday night, The Contemporary is holding a free screening of Michael Almereyda's inquisitive documentary, "William Eggleston in the Real World". The film is an enlightening look at the enigmatic photographer, known to many as the father of modern color photography. The screening will be followed by a discussion led by ACP's Amy Miller and Michael David Murphy.
And remember, ACP Now! is our new home for up-to-date info about photography events around town, as well as opportunities for artists. There's fresh content, updated weekly! Have a look, and let us know what you think.
