“Inspired Georgia” – Finalist in Georgia Author of the Year Awards (Specialty Book Category)

On Saturday, "Inspired Georgia," the dual-anthology of Georgia poets & photographers, was awarded as a finalist in the Georgia Author of the Year Awards! We'd like to thank all the contributing photographers to the project, Georgia Council for the Arts, Georgia Humanities Council, University of Georgia Press, and our fellow editors, Judson Mitcham & Karen Paty.

It was a great evening. We shook hands with the Congressman of ACP's home district, John Lewis, who won the memoir category for his incredible "March" trilogy. Inspired Georgia came in 2nd to a stablemate, of sorts, "Historic Rural Churches of Georgia" by Sonny Seals & George S. Hart (with a forward by President Carter), which was also published by University of Georgia Press.

ACP’s “Teen Spirit” Exhibition

We have a pop-up exhibition this year for "Teen Spirit" - photographs and writing from the patients at Egleston and Children's Health Care of Atlanta. Recently, Maura Friedman from Creative Loafing wrote this great piece about the program: "Looks like Teen Spirit."

"One cancer patient in a recent workshop was particularly nervous. Her bald head made her self-conscious about modeling. Demetrius coached her gently, taking photos of her hands and the details of her socks until she relaxed to take a more traditional portrait.

It's that personal empowerment that gives the whole project meaning to Adams.

'I'm at an age where if I have another photography show it's not going to change the world,' Adams, a 25-year fine art photography veteran, says. 'I want to do something that really takes photography into the world in a meaningful way and has impact and relationship involved in it.'"
The exhibition will be in the lobby at the Stephen Shore / Instagram panel discussion on Saturday, but it will not be on view at Mason Fine Art, per the box below. That's 2015's information, and it's incorrect.

It was a real treat to open the ACP Special Exhibition - Contemporary Latin American Photography at 1280 Gallery in Woodruff Arts Center with distinguished guests from the consulates of Brazil, Mexico & Argentina last night, along with the show's three curators; Carlos Carvalho (Brazil), Allegra C. Dimontezemolo (Mexico) & Silvia Mangialardi (Argentina). And a big thanks to DELTA for helping make the idea a reality. The ACP Special Exhibition of Contemporary Latin American Photography will be on view through Oct. 18th.

ACP Special Exhibition “Teen Spirit” & Digital Arts Studio / Hahnemuhle

ACP Special Exhibition "Teen Spirit" Installation We're happy to report that Digital Arts Studio has donated the printing and mounting of photographs for the "Teen Spirit" exhibition opening on Saturday, Oct. 19th. Hahnemuhle Fine Art has donated the photographic paper, and Digital Arts Studio is one of few Hahnemuhle Certified Archival Print Studios in the USA. FOX 5’s Story on ACP’s Program with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta
