"Each year, Pace Academy and Atlanta Celebrates Photography (ACP) collaborate to present the Georgia Photography Awards and Exhibition. The exhibit, now in its 22nd year, will be on display from April 3-17, 2013 in the Pace Academy Fine Arts Center. It will include works by students from approximately 25 independent and public schools around Atlanta. Well-known Atlanta-based photographer Lucinda Weil Bunnen will judge this year’s competition. Bunnen’s work has been reviewed in publications such as The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Atlanta Magazine, The New York Times and The Los Angeles Times, and featured in several books. Bunnen has co- authored three books: Movers and Shakers in Georgia, Scoring in Heaven, Gravestones and Cemetery Art in The American Sunbelt States and Alaska Trails Tales and Eccentric Detours. Her work can be found in numerous public collections around the world, and she frequently gives lectures and workshops throughout the Southeast. “Atlanta Celebrates Photography is proud to be affiliated with this extraordinary exhibition at Pace Academy,” said Amy Miller, Executive Director of Atlanta Celebrates Photography. “Students from all over Georgia, in their continuous exploration of the expressive possibilities of photography, do not shy away from experimentation or fresh ways of seeing the world. Their energy and spirit comes through in the work and makes for an impressive exhibition. We encourage photography enthusiasts of all ages to come see this surprising exhibition where they are sure to be inspired and creatively reinvigorated.” Award winners will be announced at a reception in the Pace Academy Fine Arts Center on April 7 from 5- 6:30 p.m. Five entries will receive first-place prizes. Second-place, third-place and honorable mention awards also will be presented."
