“The Seen Gallery is proud to honor Ilia Varcev on December 14, 2012 from 7-10pm. We congratulate Ilia Varcev for his accomplishments and honor him and his body of work extending over half a century on two continents. Ilia Varcev emigrated from Bulgaria to Czechoslovakia in 1942 with his family. After finishing his secondary and University studies in Prague he fled to the United Stated in 1966, moving to Atlanta, Georgia in 1976. Ilia is known for his work in black and white photography, depicting the people and architecture around him. His work is included in many collections including the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, the High Museum of Art, King & Spaulding, and numerous other private and corporate collections.
Ilia’s work is featured in the gallery’s current show “Clear Distinctions… Characteristics of the Moment”. Select pieces from this show, curated by David Mendoza, will be on exhibit until the end of the year, featuring work by Illia, Gloria Maloof, Thomas Hagar, and Channing Longo.”
