Chattahoochee Immersion
Photographs by Xiaotian Wang
March 16 – 20, 2009
Opening Reception: March 18th, 6 – 8 p.m.
The Chattahoochee River is metropolitan Atlanta’s main source of drinking water. Over the years, the residents of Atlanta have taken this and other gifts from the river, and given it only abuse in return. For me, the river is a living thing that needs to be taken care of and loved. The photographs in this project are living things too, like fish that lived in its water. The final images are not of the river itself, but are a result of things in the water that have changed it for the worse. The same water the original images were created in and destroyed by, but hopefully changed for the better.
