Bank of America becomes new presenting sponsor of ACP!

April 2nd, 2008

Have you ever wanted to get involved with the Atlanta photography community? Volunteering for ACP is a great place to start. We have a plethora of events in Sept & October, and have a list of opportunities for dedicated volunteers.

Please see the sign-up page to subscribe to our ACP Volunteers mailing list, so we can get to know you. We’ll contact you in coming months to find out what you’re interested in, coordinate schedules, and give you a brief bit of training on what’s expected of you — in short, we’ll help you help us.

It may be April, but it’s never to early to get involved!

It’s rare to see a new idea in calls for entries, but this project, “Pause, to Begin” sounds exciting. Plus, if you’re starting this spring on the slow side, they’ve extended their deadline until April 7th, 11:59pm. Have a look at their site for the details.

Ethan and David, the founders of Pause, to Begin, will hit the road in May, 2008 with a documentary filmmaker to visit the selected finalists and record the time they experience together. By traveling to meet the selected finalists in-person, Pause, to Begin becomes a publication that reflects not only the visited photographers and their process for creating, but also the journey of making Pause, to Begin.

Atlanta Public Art Bike TourRescheduled because of the weather, the Atlanta Public Art Bike Ride, organized by Alyson Laura, is going to happen this Sunday. Dust-off your gears and get going. Saddle-up! (Too bad we’ll miss last year’s Paper Placemats (ATL).)

Details:
Sunday April 6th 2008 2:30 pm
Meet at SOPO Bike Collective, East Atlanta
Ride will be 10 miles long.
The evite is here.

This ride, on behalf of the Atlanta Percent for Art Coalition, intends to bring more awareness of local public art to our allies, the urban cyclist and art enthusiast. A knowledgeable guide will show you where to find public art in Atlanta and some background about the diverse works. If you see the value of bike friendly and culturally vibrant public spaces, you will enjoy this ride.

Riders will meet in East Atlanta at the workshop of the SOPO Bike Collective. We will work our way west to downtown and end at Eyedrum Art + Music Gallery in the Old Fourth Ward.

The ride will last 1 1/2 hours and we will cover 10 miles with some steep hills. All riders should wear a helmet. Expect a casually paced, fun and informative ride.
